Home to significant historical documents including the Treaty of Waitangi, the National Archives exists as 'the memory of the Government' in accordance to the Archives Act of 1957. Visitors are welcome in the reading room for viewing archived documents, maps, photographs, film and artworks. Tours are available by appointment or visit the exhibitions galleries that display some of the country's most significant documents.
