The sound of a river and the song of birds are heard as guests visit the water, fern and rose garden complete with a pond. An onsite nursery specialises in pond and damp place plants. Open daily from September to April, 10am to 5pm.

Efil Doog: read it backwards for a description of what to find at these gardens. Sculpture, bonsai trees, and an array of plant life are spread throughout 4.2 hectares (11 acres) of beautiful gardens. Also featured is an exhibition of original early New Zealand paintings by important artists. Visitors are welcome from October 1 to March 31, Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 4:30pm. All other times by prior arrangement.

Visitors are welcome for a pastoral getaway of blueberry picking and emu visiting. The blueberries are organic and the emus friendly in a quiet meadow not far from town with guides offering tours of the farm. The shop offers a variety of blueberry and emu products as well as pottery, fudge and hand-made candles. Open daily from December to March, 10am to 6pm.
