The Wellington Cable Car The cable car is one of Wellington's quintessential attractions and a visit to the city is not complete unless it has been visited. Once built as transportation from the city to the farmland in Kelburn (today a suburb), the cable car travels a scenic route through tunnels, past Kelburn Park and the university, and stops in the Botanic Gardens. There is also a cable car museum along the route. Open weekdays from 7am to 10pm and weekends from 9am to 10pm. Address: Lambton Terminal Wellington City New Zealand
